About Us

At Pride we celebrate of all people.

Skopje Pride

Under the motto “We Stand. We Persist. Together.”, the sixth Skopje Pride will take place on Saturday, June 21, 2025. As in previous years, the gathering point will be the “Woman Fighter” Park, where participants will begin assembling at 6 PM. The protest march through the streets of Skopje will start at 7 PM and will end in front of the Government building of the Republic of North Macedonia on Ilinden Boulevard.

Why should you attend the parade?

Because in times of crisis, war, and poverty, love is easily forgotten, and hatred occupies the minds and hearts of people far more easily. Because only with love can we resist the violence to which those who are different are subjected even when there is peace for all others. Because no one should be deprived of the right to love or be persecuted because their love is not recognized by norms and laws. Because love must win.

Why the need for Pride?

Many things, in many countries, have changed since the first Pride was held in 1970 in New York. However, progress in the field of LGBT+ human rights is not equal, nor is it sufficient, and it is constantly faced with attacks by forces that oppose universal human rights. That is why Pride remains an important form of protest by the LGBT+ community against stigma, prejudice, and violence. Pride is a shriek on behalf of the millions of people facing social exclusion, impaired physical autonomy, and limited access to services available to all others.

Skopje Pride, like other pride parades, is a holiday of love, a day of visibility for the marginalized, and, of course, an occasion to celebrate the toughness of our struggle for equality. So, on June 22, 2024, see you at Pride!

Why "We Stand. We Persist. Together."?

The slogan “We Stand. We Persist. Together.” reflects both resistance and solidarity as essential strategies for survival in times of deep crisis. In a world of war, ecological collapse, and institutional violence, our very existence is an act of defiance – disobedient, loud, and collective. We stand together not to conform to “normality,” but to build a different world – radically more just, free, and humane.

National Network against Homophobia and Transphobia

The National Network against Homophobia and Transphobia, founded in 2014, is an informal network of citizens’ associations and informal groups that work together to promote the guarantee and enjoyment of the human rights of LGBTI+ people in the Republic of North Macedonia. Our vision is for every person from the LGBTI+ community in our country to live a quality and safe life and to fully enjoy and exercise their rights. As part of its mission, NNHT works to create and maintain a safe, inclusive and equitable environment for the LGBTI+ community through joint action and coordination, active involvement of community members, their empowerment and advocacy.

What to Expect?

This year, Skopje Pride is fully devoted to protest. There will be no stage, no entertainment – only a loud and united march against injustice. We stand. We persist. Together – for all who have been silenced, erased, or attacked. Because this is not a celebration – this is resistance.
